Dr. Kaine K. S. Stokes is a skilled oral and maxillofacial surgeon who brings years of expertise, precision, and compassionate care to patients at Roanoke Oral Surgery. His dedication to excellence is evident in every procedure, ensuring that you receive the highest quality surgical care in a comfortable and supportive environment.

Dr. Stokes grew up in Wisconsin and then earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and Biology from the University of Minnesota. In 2003, he was awarded the prestigious Naval Health Professionals Scholarship, setting the stage for a career in dentistry and surgery. He went on to earn his Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Minnesota in 2007.

Upon completing dental school, Dr. Stokes entered active duty with the United States Navy, where he gained extensive clinical experience in complex dental and surgical procedures. His training began with a General Practice Residency at the Naval Medical Center in Portsmouth, Virginia, followed by a two-year tour with the United States Marines at 2D Dental Battalion at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. During this time, he also participated in a medical mission to Belize, providing critical dental care to underserved communities.

In 2010, Dr. Stokes was accepted into the highly competitive Navy Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth. After completing his residency in 2014, he served aboard the aircraft carrier USS Dwight D. Eisenhower, CVN 69, where he provided essential surgical care to service members. In 2015, he returned to Naval Medical Center Portsmouth as a staff surgeon, training Navy residents in full-scope oral and maxillofacial surgery.

After 11 years of distinguished active-duty service, Dr. Stokes received an honorable discharge from the United States Navy in June 2018. He joined Roanoke Oral Surgery soon after, bringing his extensive surgical expertise to the local community. His clinical interests include full-scope oral and maxillofacial surgery, with a focus on dental implants, bone grafting, and corrective jaw surgery.

Dr. Stokes is board certified as a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and is a Fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. He is also an active member of the Virginia Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and serves on the staff at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

Outside of the operating room, Dr. Stokes enjoys spending time with his wife, Lisa, and their two children, Nolan and Annika. Whether he’s out on the golf course or hiking with his family—he values bringing the same level of dedication and care to his patients as he does to his loved ones.
