Preparing for oral surgery is essential for a smooth procedure and successful recovery. Following these pre-operative instructions will help ensure your safety, comfort, and the best possible results for your treatment.

Your surgery date and time will be confirmed in advance. Please plan to arrive 15-30 minutes before your scheduled procedure to complete any final paperwork. If you need to reschedule or have any questions, it’s best to contact our office as soon as possible.
Let us know if you have any allergies, medical conditions, or recent health changes before surgery. Certain medications, such as blood thinners and aspirin, may need to be paused—our team will provide specific guidance.
If you take essential medications, such as blood pressure medicine, take them with a small sip of water as instructed.
For your safety, do not eat or drink anything for at least 6-8 hours before surgery. If your doctor allows, clear fluids may be consumed up to 2 hours before the procedure. Diabetic patients should follow specific instructions provided by their physician. Avoid alcohol and smoking for at least 24-48 hours before surgery to promote optimal healing.
Brush and floss your teeth before your procedure but avoid swallowing water. Refrain from wearing makeup, nail polish, or jewelry on the day of surgery. Dress in loose clothing so you feel comfortable during the procedure.
It’s important to arrange for a responsible adult to drive you home after surgery. Additionally, we recommend having someone stay with you for at least 24 hours post-surgery to assist with recovery. Your safety and comfort are our top priorities.
Depending on the type of surgery, you may be prescribed a pre-surgery rinse, such as an antibacterial mouthwash. Any additional specific instructions will be provided by your surgeon. Be sure to follow all guidelines to ensure a smooth procedure.
Complete all required consent forms and paperwork before your procedure. Bring a valid ID and insurance information with you. And in case of last-minute concerns, such as fever or illness, contact our office immediately for guidance.
